I am very proud to be one of the teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Sigumpar. Especially when the students of SMP Negeri 1 Sigumpar successfully advanced to the national event, LKIR in 2013 ago. And we did not feel inferior or discouraged in the slightest though our students are the youngest participant among all LKIR participants. Other participants were high school students and college students. Instead we were proud when we were also capable of being the only finalist from North Sumatra.

We managed to advance to the national level in defeating 1260 scientific works in Indonesia. Which was unfortunately when our students only managed to get rank 4. If we were able to get the position of the big 3, then we would continue to research and go to USA. However, it has become a very proud achievement of this school, especially the province of North Sumatra in research.

Basically, both our students are creative and genius. They are Meilinda Simangungsong and Melda Simanjuntak. I hope there will be more student of SMP Negeri 1 Sigumpar who will follow the two of our students

Although our research was not up to the USA, we continue to strive for our student's research may be useful for the community around the school. So, we introduced our products to the public, and the objects of our research were farmers. Our products are a natural pest repellent and Kipahit leaves as our basic materials.

This product has been tested and it gave benefit to the farmers up to IDR 100 million for the first district. It is highly regarded by farmers around our school districts. They never buy pesticides anymore. They are able to make it themselves now because the main ingredient is around their farm. It's easy to get Kipahit leaves that become pests in farm. Farmers claimed that after knowing the results of the research of SMP Negeri 1 Sigumpar in these areas, they are not a slob anymore, snails in their farms are reduced.
